Sweet Talk Reno Concert reviews
Kentucky Derby is all hype
Having eagerly anticipated attending the Sweet Talk this year, I was disappointed to find that the Kentucky Oaks & Derby did not meet my expectations, as set by the official site. The event, billed as elegant and graceful, turned out to be more like a rowdy frat party with drunken revelers causing chaos. Despite preparing meticulously and buying recommended items, the experience fell short.
Upon arrival on Friday, the overwhelming stench and presence of intoxicated individuals prompted us to leave after just 60 minutes. Saturday, following advice from a blog, we gave it another shot. We managed to see the horses up close in the paddocks and enjoyed watching some races from the lawn, but the atmosphere of excess and filth drove us away after 2.5 hours.
Disheartened by the disappointment, we chose to drive to Dollywood and watch the race for the roses there instead. Comparing the Derby to a recent experience at Talladega Nascar, the latter proved far more enjoyable.
For future viewings, I will stick to watching the Derby from the comfort of my home, surrounded by loved ones and enjoying Southern cuisine, free from the chaos and excess of the event.
